Family Empowerment and Education for a Stronger Community.

Why BFU?

  • Whole-Family Empowerment
It starts with support. BFU strengthens families through emotional healing, financial learning, advocacy, and goal-setting—so families grow together, not alone.

  • Culture at the Center
It begins with pride. BFU affirms Black identity, celebrates culture, and supports families in navigating schools while honoring who they are.

  • Advocacy That Works
It starts with knowledge. BFU equips families with legal training, education rights, and leadership skills to advocate with confidence.

  • A Graduation That Matters
It ends with recognition. Families who complete all sessions graduate on stage in gowns and kente cloth, honoring their journey.

  • Inclusive Support for Every Family
It begins with belonging. BFU supports special needs families and welcomes all who believe in equity and community.

  • Leadership Beyond the Classroom
It continues with leadership. BFU’s Ambassador Program empowers families to lead, represent, and uplift their communities.

  • Black Family University began as an on-site parent training program and is expanding into a blended model that includes both in-person and online learning. Our programs support families in navigating the education system, strengthening advocacy skills, building financial literacy, and engaging in emotional healing. Join our newsletter to stay informed about new courses, program updates, and upcoming opportunities.

  • Parents and families graduate after completing all 10 training sessions within their program stage. Graduates participate in a formal ceremony where they wear caps, gowns, and kente cloth, walk the stage, and receive their certificates in celebration of their commitment to the program, their school, and their students. The ceremony includes speeches from trainers and parent ambassadors, scholarship awards, and sponsored graduation gifts such as school backpacks with supplies and, in some cases, laptops.
